Status of Data Challenge 1

Schedule

Phase 1: june 1- june 17

  1. Sicbmc and Brunel are being prepared for the physics production, first test release scheduled for june 15

  2. Objective: get all distributed centers operational with old LHCb environment (i.e. sicbmc v245, brunel v9r1) and do some test productions

Phase 2: june 17- june 20

  1. Package the released software

  2. Update the production tools

  3. Install the released software at the remote sites

Phase 3: june 21- july 1st

  1. Stress test the production system to estimate production capacity (nr. events/week)

Phase 4: july 17 - september 15

  1. Physics production

Pre-production

  1. Install the new SICBMC (v254r3 with dbase v248r4) and Brunel (v13r0), from /afs/cern.ch/user/e/evh/public/GRID/installationkits/v254r3.tar.gz and brunel_v13r0.tar.gz, or from the LHCb CVS server, in GRID/installationkits
  2. Try the servlet from the page http://lhcb-comp.web.cern.ch/lhcb-comp/SICB/pcsf/html/mcbrunel.htm and see if correct scripts are generated. For those institutes that run their own servletrunner (VU, Rio, ITEP) you need to make a copy of this page and point it to your own servlet. The latest source code can be found in /afs/cern.ch/user/e/evh/public/GRID/productiontools or from the LHCb CVS server, in GRID/productiontools.
  3. The mcbrunel servlet creates 3 input datasets (one channel, two minimum bias) with Sicbmc. The channel dataset is reconstructed using the minimum bias datasets for spillover.
  4. Modify the servlet and tell me what your modifications are, or modify the scripts that the servlet generates.
  5. Start to run production on the channels according to the table below (pick whichever channel you choose, the institutes listed have expressed interest in those channels, but its not exclusive).
  6. New versions of the environment may follow. During the real production, we will generate 3 minimum bias datasets and reuse 2 spillover datasets to reconstruct the remaining minimum bias dataset as well as the channel dataset.
