Summary of data management meeting Tuesday, February 3rd, 2004 9:30 Bat 2-R008 ============================================================================== Present: N.Brook, P.Charpentier, C.Cioffi, M.Frank, V.Garonne, R.Graciani, G.Kutznetsov, I.Stokes-Rees The main item on the agenda was the review of the next milestones coming due this month. This discussion also implicitly covered all status reports. For a deatiled list of the milestones, see: http://www.phy.bris.ac.uk/research/pppages/nbrook/lhcb/DC04.html Workload Management System (Ian, Vincent): - All required functionality is implemented. Vincent is now preparing the tar files for the software distribution. - Work on the monitoring API will soon be finished. - The existing monitoring application provided by Ricardo should not be affected. - Ricardo is preparing a proposal for the design of accounting monitor. He will sent his proposal later this week to the paste mailing list. File catalog (Markus): - The implementation of the POOL interface for the AliEn file catalog is not progressing, because this will require some enhancements of the AliEn interface. These changes were agreed by A.Peters, who implemented the AliEn C++ interface. Production and physics software (Markus): - Up to his knowledge the main production programs GAUSS, BOOLE and BRUNEL are interfaced to POOL/SEAL. As it was mentioned by Marco in yesterdays software meeting all work is done. - The LHCb event model can be saved using POOL. - POOL is still slower than the GaudiRoot implementation. However, the performance is acceptable for the data production. Dirac desktop (Gennady): - It is possible to instantiate jobs using the work flow editor. - The connection of the work flow editor to edit the data production database has to be done. This requires that Markus implements the necessary changes in the workflow database to be able to host modules. Cheers, Markus Frank
