1.News
Interviews have been made for the LHCb/DAQ vacanacy and an offer is being made now.
We have made a request for 3 summer students
We are actively lookly for someone from within the
collaboration to support the DAQ in the testbeam. The same person could obviously also
contribute to LHCb DAQ/Controls projects.
Requests for technical students are solicited via the
Spanish/Portugese programme.
The weekly Computing Meeting is moved to Monday
afternoon at 14.00. First meeting at this time is March 6th.
There is now a monthly IT/LHCb coordination meeting
held on the first Friday of the month at 2 p.m. The venue will be Salle B near the council
chamber. Attendees Joel, Marco, Florence, Pere and Beat.
2.Status of Software Migration
Florence pointed out some difficulties in managing releases of SICb. John will
discuss with those concerned and try to devise a procedure for allowing better control of
the releases.
3.Preparation for LHCb Week
Ioana pointed out that the LHCb management would like to have comprehensive reports
covering all aspects of the migration at the Computing Meeting in the next LHCb week.
There has been much activity in the subdetector groups e.g. RICH code has been ported to
GAUDI, calorimeter group are to review their detector description etc.
The decision on whether to use a commercial SCADA tool
has to be taken at the next meeting. David Myers is preparing an agreement to be signed by
the four collaborations. Clara will discuss this with Hans Jurgen beforehand to see how he
wants to handle it.
Clara pointed out that there is to be a JCOP Steering
Meeting on Feb 22nd (during LHCb week). This is likely to clash with Trigger meeting. We
will see if it can be re-arranged.
4.LHC Computing Review
The first Steering Panel meeting has been held, reported
on by John.
Goal is to secure funding, setup Computing MoUs. Ioana
asked whether it makes sense to produce MoUs before the TDR is finished.
Guidelines exist for for the Software Panel and LHCb has
to give its presentation (answers to questions) on March 15th (tentative). The final
report is due by the end of May.
The four coordinators are sending a memo asking for
there to be adequate external experts to solidify the review aspects.
