Your entry point for questions regarding this is ASIS.Support@cern.ch, although I'll welcome a complimentary copy for our own (User Support) information. Regards, Miguel ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: 05 Aug 1999 14:57:35 +0200 From: Philippe Defert <defert@gnuisance.cern.ch> Subject: gcc 2.95 Newsgroups: cern.asis,cern.unix,cern.computing gcc 2.95 is out since 2nd of August. gcc 2.95 is available on ASIS from tomorrow on on all platforms. It is in production for Redhat 6.0 only as it is the only gcc for redhat 6.0 and FORTRAN and LHC++. On all other architectures, it is in Certified mode i.e. it passed all the tests. Please test the new version of the compiler. If no bug report is sent to us before the 18th of August, gcc 2.95 will be the production version from the 19th of August on all supported platforms. WHAT HAPPENS TO EGCS: --------------------- egcs is renamed gcc again as the gcc stearing committe gave them the control on gcc. In the ASIS product data base, egcs packages are renamed: egcs-1.0.2 --> gcc-2.90.27 egcs-1.1b --> gcc-2.91.57 egcs-1.1.1 --> gcc-2.91.60 egcs-1.1.2 --> gcc-2.91.66 In a few weeks, egcs-1.1.2 ( gcc-2.91.66) will be deleted as it was never in production at CERN. If you have a configuration file for ASIS which contains references to egcs, this will be handled automatically by the ASISwsm itself. HOW TO GET gcc 2.95 on your workstation: ---------------------------------------- Be root and run: $ /afs/cern.ch/asis/adm/bin/asis-wrapper tkwsm Then choose GNU.LANG family, and configure GNU.LANG/gcc as "Latest" and run the update. Amicalement. The ASIS team. --------------191074F2E599532EDB330245--
